We administered the SLEP tests (for English Proficiency) to each grade level 7-13, Monday through Thursday. While correcting them takes time, scoring and entering them in the spreadsheet took even longer. Ron is the one who persevered to that end!
While at the wharf to do an exchange for missionary mail pouch items, Ron captured a picture of the buses lined up to take ferry walk-off passengers to their destinations as each bus goes as far as a particular village. We love how colorful they are and how they are named.
This has been a week of magical and emotional moments...the end is drawing so near.
On Wednesday our EDU class gave us a "surprise party", you might say. After their final exam, they broke out cake and ice cream and presented us with gifts. We can't express gratitude enough to these teachers who have truly touched our hearts. Ironic that behind these smiles were lots of tears.

Thursday was another farewell...this time a dinner with Principal Mika and Rebecca Lolo. They have been friends sharing mutual interests like gardening, books, food, and friendship time.

Before the movie Friday night with the dorm girls, they asked for a few minutes and expressed gracious words on our behalf. We were totally astounded that they came prepared with gifts too: a special red lei for Ron called an ula fala which is worn by men during more formal celebrations. I received a matching red and green beaded necklace lei, bracelet, and earring set. The girls were so sweet. Afterwards, the Solomon Island girls put a shell necklace on me and gave us a beautiful silky sarong printed with a map of the Solomon Islands. We will cherish these girls forever!
Okay, Joseph joined our group too. |
On a personal note, congratulations to our grandson, Dagan, on his baptism today. Would love to have been there. His other grandpa shared this picture with us. Love to you from Samoa!
